We would, ideally, like to find some mechanism for improving our "Reviewing learners' progress", as I am sure we all have differing systems and procedures for collecting and analysing this sort of information. In Utopia, I would like to find a "tool" that could measure learners’ progress from one step of the journey, to the next. And, of course, this tool would then benchmark the improvement, or progress, within each step against each step for each learner, cohort, group, or curriculum area. Thus enabling an identification of any "weaknesses", or good practice. Hmmmm.

Hi Terry
ReplyDeleteWe will begin the search for such a tool that would help you to review learner progress. Any suggestions welcome.... if any one is using such a tool please can you share this with us ?
Thanks
Punam
I've used a Google Spreadsheet for tracking progress. With some formulae this can also automatically add comments or turn boxes green, red, orange or whatever.
ReplyDeleteBy using one sheet per student this can also be shared with them, accessible on-line at any time. If everyone's happy seeing everyone else's progress then it's even easier as one sheet can cover all.
I'll try and find a link to an old example.
Another option is to set up a Google Form that asks students to rate how they think they're doing in various elements of a course. That can then be compared, perhaps, to the tutors pre-loaded 'grades' or responses or simply used for discussion. The advantage of an on-line form is that they can complete it at their leisure and it looks less intimidating than printed stuff in Times New Roman with boxes.
